War Dogs — Two Sided

War Dogs puts a snarling, collared dog on the front, with a smaller collar emblem and wordmark on the upper back. The two-sided print turns the symbols of command into its central subject.

Artwork and meaning

The animal's head tips upward and its jaws open, but the chain running from its mouth and the decorated double collar complicate any simple picture of aggression. The dog is powerful, and visibly trained. Gothic 'wardogs' lettering crowns the front while the Relics of Violence name curves below. The back reduces the story to the collar alone, a little relic that tells you who held the leash even when the animal is absent. The dark burst behind the portrait has the charged feel of an emblem or unit insignia. The print leaves room for two readings at once: a threat directed outward and a living creature shaped into that threat.
