Newspeak 1984 — Hoodie

Newspeak 1984 is a unisex pullover hoodie built around a different image of controlled language: scattered letters form a head-shaped silhouette across the back. A circular NEWSPEAK 1984 / DYSTOPIAN DREAMS emblem sits on the front. The broken alphabet makes the subject visible before you read the name.

Artwork and meaning

The back print collects black, white and red characters into a dense human profile, interrupted by geometric bars. Some letters are legible; together they become noise. That shift captures the threat of Newspeak in Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four: a vocabulary narrowed until certain thoughts become difficult to formulate. The hoodie does not illustrate a scene from the novel. It asks what remains of a person's voice when language itself is edited.

The Dystopian Dreams series

Dystopian Dreams explores the systems that influence what people can see, say and remember. This version of Newspeak turns a battle over vocabulary into typography and a human silhouette. Across the collection, surveillance and coercion often appear as eyes, buildings or slogans. This hoodie chooses letters, the raw material of meaning, and arranges them into the outline of a person. It is a quieter visual threat: a self built out of words can also be altered when someone else controls the vocabulary.
